The anchorage of the touristic town of Plataria and Sivota accordingly, consist municipal units of the broad municipality of Igoumenitsa, the biggest of the three municipalities in Thesprotia and capital of the region counting 1.51 permanent residents. The town of Igoumenitsa is just 12km away from Plataria and it is the administrative and economic centre of the regional unit of Thesprotia. Tourists from inland Greece, the Balkan, Italy, Germany, England and other countries have started years ago flowing in large numbers in this anchorage which currently provide all services for yacht and crew booking, maintenance and storage.
Τowards the North of Igoumenitsa is the municipality of Filiates, whereas towards the south is the regional unit of Preveza, towards the west is the Ionian Sea stretching all the way from the river of Kalamas and extending through the highly touristic villages of Sivota and Perdika, all the way to the world famous municipality of Parga which also participates in the development of this project.
Although the greater gulf of Plataria provides adequate temporary shelter to yachts and fishing boats, its small marina situated at the seafront of the village, provides full protection to a significantly good number of boats, whereas the village provides all services anticipated from this type of recreational marine infrastructure. Numerous restaurants and cafes offer quality fresh food to all visitors, whereas the minimarkets across the coast carry all supplies and provisions of fresh products usually needed from the visiting sailors.
Besides the small unspoiled gulfs, where the rocky trees fully covered with all sorts of colourful bushes and tweeting birds, conifer forests and olive orchards seasides, accessible in most of the cases solely by yachts, in the close vicinity of the Plataria anchorage, on the road to the old and traditional town of Margariti, there are a number of mountainous and seaside foot trails, places of interests, historic ruins, with the lake of Kalodiki – the unique and unspoiled water lily lake, offering unique beauty and tranquillity sensations to the visitors.
Because the anchorage is located at the seafront of Plataria most of the services and facilities can be found either within the seafront of the village or on the main road joining Igoumenitsa with Margariti. Table 2 which is shown below is a detailed anchorage information table, facilitating the prospective visitor with all the age. This table suitably presented and accompanied by representative photos and videos, will provide adequate information for what somebody is expecting to find in the greater area of concern.
